I got on Facebook because my daughter demanded I blog and she set me up. I read what shows up on my homepage but have never 'liked' anything. Somehow all these younger than 12 year olds have Snapchat, due to the fact they Lied to get an account. How many parents actually know, that it is suggested you be 13. If you are not13, the app says it will direct you to SnapKids...that is a lie as well. There is no Snap kids. It's all the same. So, in order for these kids to get Snapchat who are you get than 12, they must of lied about their age. What does that teach our kids?..hmmmAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10575286163149331415noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6023992503428723050.post-15927774935281678062018-04-05T07:38:09.415-05:002018-04-05T07:38:09.415-05:00I love you, Brian. I’ve observed that when Christians explain why they experience bodily brokenness, there can sometimes be a reductionistic viewpoint that boils everything down to either unseen spiritual reality or pure biology. I’ve experienced feelings of depression. I’ve never experienced clinical depression. At times, I’ve felt depressed because of exhaustion. I’ve also felt it because of walking in disobedience to Christ. It’s been caused by both bodily & spiritual reality in my life. I’m an embodied soul, so that makes sense. But it’s never been depression or anxiety in the sense you have experienced. I honestly think there is danger on both sides. On one end, when depression is reduced to just spiritual reality, people with bodily brokenness are washed in guilt & shame as they are told that their condition would improve if only they prayed more, sought the Lord more, surrendered to God more, etc. On the other end, when depression is reduced to just biology, people who have bred dysfunction into their lives and mired themselves in destructive & self-absorbed patterns are deceived into believing that their feelings of depression are purely biological and unrelated to the disordered patterns, priorities, and trajectory of their life. A big part of the problem is how the modern church tends to trade out deep, nuanced doctrinal clarity for lunchable platitudes & catch-phrases. I don’t think anyone can closely examine Romans 8 without concluding that bodily suffering is never as simple as just spirituality or biology. I enjoyed reading your post. Love you brother! As one who has stepped up a few times ...Well said. As one who has stepped up a few times and put my life on the line for this country it is also hard to see our country set back and do nothing. One of the points you are leaving out about fear and the media is this. Fear sells product. The media uses fear to get your eyes on the screen and put ads in front of your face or to push their agenda. Like the SUV correlation you made in the previous post. Fear does nothing but to serve as a part of a propaganda piece. If we can sow fear in the heart then we can cultivate a need that can only be filled with commerce. At least that's how CNN, NBC, FOX and the rest would have you opperate.
There is real evil in the world. Percentage wise there is little chance most of us will be confronted by it.
Think about it. How many people do you know have been shot? Assaulted? Robbed? Kidnapped? Beaten? The media would have you believe these are common everyday occurences in America. It's just not the case for a large portion of Americans.
There is no need for the fear, if God is for us who can be against us.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09156361282624044574noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6023992503428723050.post-73387782387932747322015-11-18T11:36:37.384-06:002015-11-18T11:36:37.384-06:00So well written. Even the best efforts in Christian movie-making invariably misrepresent the scriptures, or in many ways, make God small. Although some of these movies are not bad, or evil, still, in my opinion - they are worthless. Ps.101:3 "wicked" = Strong's #1100 = "without profit, worthlessness."

RETA@ http://evenhaazer.blogspot.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6023992503428723050.post-33758315903911909332014-02-21T09:02:04.441-06:002014-02-21T09:02:04.441-06:00Brian: well put.Brian: well put.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15668556199301447618noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6023992503428723050.post-42839652678040493842014-02-21T09:01:36.460-06:002014-02-21T09:01:36.460-06:00Brian: well put.Brian: well put.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15668556199301447618noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6023992503428723050.post-74056695836936594922014-02-20T13:47:30.176-06:002014-02-20T13:47:30.176-06:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01084657399386518195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6023992503428723050.post-57851817864807435312014-02-20T13:45:05.077-06:002014-02-20T13:45:05.077-06:00Thanks for this Brian! I really like what Aaron said because it gives me a different perspective. Every day I have 3 or 4 kids late to first hour, and I am never sure whether to cut them some slack or let them have it for being late. I really want them to know, however, that the consequences for being late in the "real world" can be pretty awful. I know someone who failed student teaching (can never receive a license in Kansas....so $35,000 down the drain) because he was over an hour late like 5 times throughout the semester. As a teacher, you can never be late, because if you are, not only are you in big trouble, but if something happened in your room, you could be sued for negligence. I think it depends on how the standards are set. If the boss puts up with tardiness, then people are more likely to be late all the time. Great thoughts Brian! I think like Dennis said it depends on how the standards are set. If my principal put up with teachers being late, we'd be in a world of hurt...and possible lawsuits for negligence! I think it's so important to be on time because you never know who's depending on you to be there...and the consequences for some jobs can be pretty terrible. I knew someone during student teaching who failed student teaching (can never receive a license in Kansas...so $35,000 of school for nothing)because he was over an hour late 5 times in 7 weeks. As teachers, this just can't happen because not only is it way unprofessional, it makes you liable if something happens in your room and you're not there. My biggest question is if you're chronically late, why not just get up 5 minutes early? Or set a few different alarms? But I also need to stop judging because there's stuff I can work on too! Great thoughts Brian!
